Description
San pedro is a large columnar cactus native to the high Andes of Peru and Ecuador. In its natural enviroment it can reach heights of up to 15 feet and can have multiple branches. It is a ribbed cactus with between 6 - 8 ribs. San Pedro Cactus was suposedly named after Saint Peter because it was, like Peter, thought to hold the keys to heaven. San Pedro Cactus has been known and used ceremonily for over 3000 years and there is evidence to suggest cultivation in Peru from 2200 B. C.
